Online Kindergarten Science Curriculum

Kindergarten is an exciting milestone, marking the start of a learning journey full of growth, discovery, and new experiences. In science lessons, curiosity takes center stage as students begin to explore and better understand the world around them.

In kindergarten science, students learn to ask questions, notice patterns, and explore their world. They also practice observing, comparing, and making simple predictions. These early skills help students think like scientists and build a strong understanding of how the world works.

Miacademy makes kindergarten science a blast! With interactive lessons and hands-on activities, kids build curiosity and essential science skills in a fun way they’ll never forget.

When a student begins learning in other areas, they’re usually ready to start learning about science too! Our science lessons focus on the world around us and are heavily observation-based — no prior knowledge needed!

Each video lesson comes with an activity PDF to give students the opportunity for hands-on learning.

In kindergarten science, students explore basic science skills like:

  1. Asking questions and making observations about the world using their senses.
  2. Describing and comparing plants and animals — how they are alike and different.
  3. Identifying living things and their basic needs, such as food, water, air, and shelter.
  4. Describing weather and seasonal patterns, such as sunny vs. cloudy, the change of seasons, day and night, etc.
  5. Understanding the human body, including major organs and the five senses.
  6. Identifying differences and sorting materials based on size, shape, color, texture, and weight.
  7. Exploring basic forces, such as push and pull, the force of gravity, and why some items float and others sink.

Communicating their ideas and learnings through drawing, speaking, or writing.

In this course, students will observe the world around them using their five senses and a little creative thinking. With an emphasis on natural curiosity, each lesson invites students to ask questions, make observations, and try out their ideas — their first steps to becoming scientists!
